Sometimes you just know when something feels right and that was the case for Emma when she brought her son Freddie to Little Pippins.
“I remember vividly when we went along to the open night,” said Emma.” We were a little late and I was a bit flustered but as soon as we walked into the room, I felt the warmth of the team as they embraced us.”
Emma and husband James, both mental health nurses, had already visited another couple of nurseries in the area.
“One seemed very regimented and the other was so big I felt children just got lost in the system,” said Emma. “At Little Pippins they genuinely have the children at the heart of the organisation.”
Freddie started attending at 11 months old. Emma admits at first she struggled to return to work after her maternity leave and felt enormous “mum guilt” at Freddie’s tears when she first dropped him off at Little Pippins.
“The staff were so caring and understanding and within minutes of me arriving at work my phone went ping and there was a message to say Freddie had settled and a lovely photo of him enjoying an activity,” said Emma.
She added: “Within a few days he was fine and looking forward to going in each morning. He loves Miss Roxy!!
Now two, Freddie has moved from Little Pips to Little Buds and, as with all toddlers, the transition is managed carefully and on an individual basis.
Emma is delighted at Freddie’s progress, including his reading and communication skills, and Nan and Grandad are also impressed.
“My mum is non-verbal and it’s so lovely that Freddie has been able to communicate with her through sign language he has learned,” said Emma.
“And my dad always comments on how fortunate we are to have a nursery in such a wonderful building set in beautiful grounds.”
